Christmas Caroling: Sermon 1 – Joy to the World
Joy to the World wasn’t written to describe Bethlehem. Isaac Watts wrote it after reading Psalm 98, a psalm that celebrates the Lord coming to judge the earth with righteousness. He wanted people to sing the message of that Scripture, pointing to the day when Christ returns as King. In this week’s sermon, we walk through Psalm 98, the history behind the hymn, and how the joy announced at Jesus’ birth also points us to the hope of His coming kingdom.
