Have A Blessed Memorial Day
As we continue through Memorial Day weekend, we are reminded that freedom carries a cost. Ronald Reagan once said:
|

|
|
“Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly.”
|
|
Those words remind us that every generation must choose what it values, what it protects, and what it passes on to the next generation. Throughout history, men and women sacrificed greatly so others could live in freedom. Their courage, discipline, and willingness to serve should encourage us to live with gratitude and purpose.
|
|
As Christians, we also understand there is a spiritual responsibility passed from one generation to the next. Faithfulness to God, commitment to truth, prayer, worship, and teaching the Bible to our families do not continue automatically. Every generation must decide whether it will walk with God and stand for truth.
|
This weekend is a good reminder to:
|
- thank God for those who sacrificed for our freedoms
- pray for our nation and leaders
- spend meaningful time with family
- encourage one another in the Lord
- remain faithful in serving Christ
We look forward to gathering together this Sunday at Shining Light Baptist Church as we continue studying God’s Word and encouraging one another in the faith. Invite someone to join you and continue praying that God would use our church to be voices for God’s Word and hands for God’s work.
