Our sermon will challenge us to learn some Christian lessons from 9/11. There is no handout or devotional this week; they will return next week. Come see what lessons we can learn from 9/11 in the church of God and decide to whom or what do you pledge your allegiance.

Pray With Us

Take a minute this weekend to pray over what's in our prayer bowl. If you have a request you'd like added, let us know and we'll include it.

Four things we're asking God for as a church right now:
|
- That God will save someone through our ministry
- That God will send laborers from the SLBC family
- That God will open a door for us to share the gospel
- That God will give us boldness to share the gospel
Connecting and Serving Together
|
A few studies looked at what actually helps church members grow, and the answers are simple.
|
|
Lifeway Research found that people who show up regularly to a small group or class, like our Sunday School class, build the strongest relationships and end up serving more too. They're also the most likely to have a regular job to do at church or to help out in the community.
|
|
Barna found something similar. People in a group that feels close, like family, are much more likely to say their church helped them understand what God wants them to do with their life. Getting close to people at church isn't separate from finding your purpose. It's often how you find it.
|
|
Lifeway also found that a little under half of church members serve on a regular basis. Serving isn't just a favor to the church. People who serve say it's one of the biggest reasons their own faith grew.
|
Get connected. Find a place to serve. Both matter more than we tend to think.
|
