Looking Forward To Seeing You On Sunday,
Hope you had a good week. Here's what's ahead for Sunday.
Last week we added four requests to the prayer bowl. Let's review them so we can keep praying together this week:
- That God will save someone through SLBC's ministry
- That God will send laborers from among us
- That God will open doors for us to share the gospel
- That God will give us boldness to walk through those doors when they open
August was about praying beyond our limitations, and now we're back in our sermon series, The Bible Storyline. Sunday's lesson is a turning point in that series. Up to now we've been following individuals and families — Adam, Noah, a handful of people at a time. Genesis 10 is where that changes. It's nicknamed the "Table of Nations" because it traces how Noah's three sons became the nations that fill the rest of the Bible — Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, and on into the New Testament. What it tells us about God is that He's never limited His plan to fill His Kingdom to one group of people or nation. He's been working to bring every nation into the Kingdom of God. Jesus makes this clear in the Great Commission.
In Sunday School, we're continuing through our class series, Living Letters, and this week is Chapter 6 on Discipleship. The lesson reminds us to be intentional about discipleship.
- A study by Barna and The Navigators found that 39 percent of Christians aren't being discipled by anyone and aren't discipling anyone either.
- Only 28 percent are doing both. More than half say their spiritual life is entirely private.
- That's not what we see in Scripture — Paul invested in Timothy, Priscilla and Aquila took the time to teach Apollos more fully. If Sunday School has been easy to skip, this is a good week to show up instead.
Join us at 10am for Sunday School and 11am for worship.

A mission statement puts into words why an organization exists and keeps that purpose before its people. Ours reminds us why we exist as a church: “We exist to be voices for God’s Word and hands for God’s work.” We are to proclaim His Word faithfully and put it into practice through loving service. This is more than a statement—it …
