In Proverbs 3:7–8, Solomon identifies a danger that is difficult to recognize in ourselves: being wise in our own eyes. He then gives the answer—be not wise in our own eyes, fear the Lord and depart from evil.

What does it mean to treat our judgment as the final word? Why does Scripture connect fearing the Lord with departing from evil? And how does that restore what sin has distroyed in us as God’s image bearers?

A Quick Note About Our Newsletters
As a quick reminder, we normally send two newsletters each week. The Wednesday newsletter includes the Bible study notes, the Zoom link, and any updates for our midweek gathering. The Saturday newsletter includes the Sunday sermon notes, other handouts, the Zoom link for the service, and information for the week ahead. Some weeks, the newsletters will contain mostly familiar information. At other times, they will include a schedule change, special announcement, or another important update. We also try to include helpful general information whenever we can. Please continue to give each newsletter a quick read so you have the notes, links, and latest information for our time together.

A special thank-you to Tommy and Khloe Gauldin for weeding the flower beds at the church on Monday. They came specifically to do the work, but they did not announce it or ask for any recognition. They simply showed up with a plan and took care of business. In fact, we might not have known whom to thank if the church’s Ring camera had not caught them in the act! Their surprise act of service made a noticeable difference around the church grounds. Tommy and Khloe, thank you for giving your time and working so quietly to make the church property look better. Your thoughtfulness and hard work are sincerely appreciated.
The SLBC family is blessed with people who give of your time and money to make sure the work of God is done well and the House of God is represented well in our community. Thank you to everyone.

UPDATE July 2026!!!!!!! Help us reach our goal of 600 invitations in 2026 Sunday, July 12 was a good reporting day for our Goal. We had 25 invites to add to our goal this week. This is great work SLBC family, thank you and may God continue blessing our efforts.
